Spider Mites

One pest that likes Alocasia Macrorrhiza is the Spider Mite.
This pest likes dry and dusty areas.
One approach to keeping the Spider Mite under control is to maintain
the "dust" level on the plant and leaves. Water should be sprayed on the leaves
every day or so to keep the dust off the leaves. If you live in a dusty climate, you should watch out for the dusty conditions and keep the leaves clear of dust.

If you do get a serious outbreak of Spider Mites, the most agressive remedy is to remove the infected leaves and treat the new growth. Remove any cuttings from the immediate area, do not lay them on the ground. If you do not want to remove any infected leaves, then I would suggest purchasing beneficial insects.

Before you consider using chemicals to control your pests, you should also consider the chemicals will probably kill the beneficials also. Set up the necessary environment to encourage your beneficals to stick around your garden and they will control your pests for you.
